Years Experience

Our History Since 1976

The roots of Alumnia go back to 1976, when the Vereniging voor Bedrijfskundige Ingenieurs (VBI – Association for Business Engineers) was founded. The goal was clear from the start: to maintain and strengthen the bond between graduates of Industrial Engineering and TU/e, and to help alumni stay connected with each other.

For many years, the association operated under the name Alumni VBI. From 2013 onwards, the board started a broader repositioning: introducing new types of events, using modern communication channels, and expanding collaborations with partners and the study association Industria.

In 2016, the year of the association’s 40th anniversary and 8th lustrum, Alumni VBI adopted a new brand name: Alumnia. The name was chosen to better reflect who our members are, to connect future generations of alumni, and to give the association a clearer, more recognisable profile within the TU/e community.

A personal note from our Chairman of the board

Bridging Generations of Innovation

As an Industrial Engineering alumnus, I’ve experienced how powerful the shared TU/e network and mindset can be. One conversation can spark a new idea, a career move, or a collaboration. That momentum should not stop at graduation, it grows through the people you meet next.

That’s why I’m committed to keeping our Industrial Engineering community connected and expanding the network through events, mentorship, and our member community, so experience flows back to the next generation and fresh perspectives keep challenging us. Whether you graduated last year or decades ago: you are most welcome at Alumnia and I hope to see you at one of our events soon.
